Secure I/O in Internet Browsers

In this talk I present the work I did as part of my senior thesis, which was published in the 2018 journal of Privacy Enhancing Technologies Symposium (PETS). My research focused on the system requirements for developing a mechanism for secure input and output within Internet browsers. My main contribution was a successful attack against ShadowCrypt, a technology trying to provide secure I/O in browsers via a browser extension.

In this talk I take a deep dive into the complexities of performing a streaming join. The motivating use case is the core auctions join that AppNexus must perform in order to determine which auctions transacted, which sees ~1M events/second and ~600MB/sec.

Along with Franseco Tonin, I presented at the NYC Cash Exchange on crypto currencies and blockchain. Tonin focused on the math and theory behind blockchain. I focused on how blockchain could be applied to AdTech – emphasizing that it’s not a simple turn key solution.
